Rational Science and Sensory Art, a pair of seemingly contrasting terms in their literal meanings, intertwine intricately across different fields. For design, this theme possesses a unique essence. Here, the designers made a bold decision to create a "poetic" kindergarten, ushering in an artistic-scientific renaissance.

"Emerging from Lush Greenery"

Renowned designer Kenya Hara once said that design is not a skill, but rather an ability to capture the essence of things and a sense of insight. The Fukuyi Kindergarten boasts expansive green spaces, with vines climbing the fence walls everywhere, extending segments of vitality. Being in this environment feels like stepping into an "aerial garden" depicted in an oil painting.

Looking into the distance, two tall trees stand at one end, witnessing the children's growth with their enduring presence. They are companions, guides to exploring the mysteries of nature, benevolent elders with broad hearts, and an indispensable spiritual core of the kindergarten.

Architectural shapes divide many narrow spaces. As part of the kindergarten, these spaces cannot be wasted. Designers focused on how to use them appropriately, giving them new significance.

"Drawing Life Vitality from the Art-Science Renaissance"

In an era of flourishing literary and artistic development with works like Leonardo da Vinci's "Mona Lisa," Raphael's "Madonna in the Garden," Michelangelo's creation of "David," and Shakespeare's "Hamlet" celebrating humanism, children can explore the secrets of new worlds, engage in dialectical thinking about Fermat's Last Theorem's truth, and find their own possibilities among countless options.

David's Garden

"The mission of art is not to imitate nature but to express it."

When designing the entrance landscape, the designers chose to preserve the kindergarten's original lush greenery, even adding more, creating a unique ecological European-style garden.

This garden is based on Italian gardens, integrating the symmetrical aesthetics of Chinese gardens, complemented by decorative sculptures, landscape toys, distinctive multi-material pathways, and colorful Roman columns, presenting almost perfect lines and pathways. Walking through it, you feel closely connected to nature, with a sense of spiritual enjoyment everywhere.

Plant Dance

Giving the planting areas a poetic touch, winding paths flow with green vitality. The plants host a grand dance, inviting the children to join. Through simple arches, they enter a courtyard designed with climbing plants, swaying gracefully in the breeze, their leaves rustling gently.

Children at Play

Famous educator Tao Xingzhi once called for liberating children's minds, hands, feet, space, and time to grant them a truly free life, which leads to genuine education. Thus, we connected the sand and water area with the role-playing area, breaking the spatial constraints and allowing children to truly "play." They interact with nature and unleash their creativity.

Combining small rock scenes with small bridges and flowing water, the gentle sound of water circulates in the pool, and as a gentle breeze picks up, the pool water ripples. Children's small hands scoop up water to reflect their own faces, responding to nature in a natural way.

"From Humanism to Scientific Innovation"

From imitating innovation to technological transformation, the Renaissance called for a return to humanistic thinking, continually affirming scientific methodology and experimental methods in a groundbreaking way. The kindergarten is not just a fairy-tale garden; it needs an infusion of technology, adding a layer of rationality to its "poetry."

Open sports spaces incorporate mechanical elements. Designers ingeniously used natural wood as the building material to create a winding "dragon."

The "dragon" is composed of large toys and wooden walkways, enriching the narrow spaces in the garden. The designers used many parts to detail the toy's surface. From a distance, the entire toy walkway seems to be assembled from individual pieces, adding a unique visual element to the kindergarten.

Considering aesthetic balance, the sports area doesn't sacrifice greenery coverage. Designers built wooden walkways based on the existing vegetation, creating a well-structured vertical facade. This fully satisfies children's needs for climbing, running, and jumping, making the entire sports area appear as if it grew naturally from the environment.

Play and learning are not distinctly separate. In the play spaces created at the Fukuyi Kindergarten, children are encouraged to explore and discover new games. The pipes clinging to the wall can serve as secret sound conduits, and the climbing wall can become an unknown mountain peak. Art and science do not solely rely on obscure and difficult-to-understand textual explanations; the world needs children's imagination and creativity, and the kindergarten is the nurturing ground for all these possibilities to flourish.
