Nanbu County Kindergarten

Having been in captivity for so long,

Now returning to nature.

How can a kindergarten embody natural characteristics? Trees adorn the landscape, meandering streams flow, and every flower and blade of grass retains its most primitive form. By using natural materials and simulating space, the designer will guide us into this natural eco-paradise as our gaze shifts.

The entrance, as the facade of the campus, plays a pivotal role in shaping the overall environmental ambiance. Therefore, we have intentionally incorporated the local water culture concept, creating a creative pond scene with a classical charm. A gentle stream replaces paved walkways as the new visual focal point, symbolizing the thriving life force of the children.

The swaying shadows of the trees are reflected on the pond, with a gentle breeze and fallen leaves creating a sense of tranquility. As the starting point of the kindergarten's design, the winding stream disappears among the trees and stones. This is not its end, but the beginning of a journey of life.

Moving along, the stream converges with the sandwater pool, nurturing the energy of life in its serenity. Fish frolic among the lotus leaves, and bridges blur the boundaries of space. The interaction between children and nature takes on new interpretations here.

Sand and Ship:

After passing the weathered sandwater pool, what stands before you is a massive ship embedded in the wall, with a boardwalk surrounding it, connecting to the ship's deck. The vivid and stacked colors create a playful spatial experience. The soothing sound of flowing water fills your ears, while the evening breeze carries the scent of flowers. The "Voyage" awaits the children who come to explore.

The ideal kindergarten, regardless of its form, should be a place where children can run freely and play happily, while also learning about life and growing. Therefore, the sandwater area should not be a boring place for toys but a reflection of the beauty of southern counties, a symbol of the hometown, and an extension of the charm of pristine nature.

In the eyes of children, the wisdom of plants and rocks is found in everything. Following the rocky shore, the stone arch-like rock formations add a touch of natural texture to the overall environment. With each step, there is a spiritual enjoyment closely related to beauty.

Natural Tunnel:

Rivers are brought into the plains, and walking on the colorful pathways, which mimic hilly terrain, provides children with challenging climbing adventures.

Kindergarten Outdoor Design

Under the grassy surface, you'll find a network of crawling tunnels. These small tunnels create new dimensions. You can be a rabbit hiding from danger or a mole resting peacefully. You can be any vibrant living being in the world, exploring the mysteries of nature alongside the children.

Corner World:

By utilizing the corners of the building, we create an area for physical development, sensory training, balance toys, and nature exploration. The seeds of science take root here and bloom into the flowers of curiosity.

Pause for a moment and play an unnamed song. Here, children can express themselves freely, and the plants become the audience. Leaves harmonize with the music. Passersby, please listen carefully, for this is a variation composed collectively by life and life.

Jungle Boardwalk:

"Educating is like one tree shaking another, one cloud pushing another, one soul summoning another."

Kindergarten Outdoor Design

Nature is the best teacher for children. The changing seasons of plants and animals, their growth and transformation, allow children to approach nature and life with infinite respect. The wooden boardwalks, constructed in accordance with the terrain, rise and fall with varying heights, simulating the appearance of small hills. Named "Love Bonds," they form a community of shared destinies, encouraging children to fulfill the commitment to life.

As you stroll along the winding path, the rocky shore lies next to the boardwalk and grassy areas, constituting the area's veins and framework. The fragrance of plants lingers, and children run along the designated path. Trees provide large green umbrellas, protecting them from the harsh sun. Here, there is no excessive protection; children can touch the stones, feel the tree trunks, and explore with confidence, embracing nature.

Nature holds so many secrets, and what you know is just the tip of the iceberg. Perhaps around the next corner, in a place you've never reached, live the fairies from fairy tales...

Forest Playground:

The outdoor area of the kindergarten is designed based on the intention of children's play. Creating a "playground" that allows children to fully exercise their autonomy is a crucial concept in Anji play.

Kindergarten Outdoor Design

The combination of nature and play has led us to create this "Forest Playground" with a deep sense of purpose. Simple wooden materials are used to create ceramic woodwork tables and benches. A few sales counters are placed, and today, anyone can be the small owner of this hidden pottery shop in the forest.

Various-shaped toy houses are scattered around, and children gather in small groups. They might play as a family or create different stories. The crisp sound of birds accompanies them as they enjoy their roles.
