Gansu Kang Le Token Ninth Courtyard

Kindergarten Design

In this kindergarten design project, we have chosen the classic fairy tale "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" as the thematic inspiration for the space. We use an international and modern design approach to convey the cultural core of childhood, adventure, and growth.

Various spaces are interconnected through story scenes, creating a dreamlike experience where reality and the world of fairy tales overlap. Children's sensitive senses can connect with the rich emotions of the characters in the story, allowing them to grow alongside these characters.

Mary and the Nutcracker

# Atmosphere of Play and Adventure

Kindergarten Design

The lobby is where the story begins, with a conceptually rich Christmas tree under which toy soldiers stand in formation, protecting Mary and the Nutcracker Prince. We follow in their footsteps to enter the fairy tale world that exists through imagination.

In the choice of scene colors, the designer extracts elements from the toy soldiers and other thematic elements to create a closer connection between the scenes and the thematic elements, enhancing the immersion of the story.

In addition, arch-shaped elements are heavily used, inspired by the entrance shapes of caves and caverns, guiding children's hearts to explore unknown treasures and further enhancing the atmosphere of play and adventure in the space.

At this moment, behind Mary and the Nutcracker, the army led by the Mouse King is silently advancing from the shadows in the corner, bringing imminent danger...

Rescuing the Nutcracker

# "Time-Traveling Tunnel"

Kindergarten Design

During the battle with the Mouse Army, the Nutcracker is captured by the Rat King, and the saddened Mary discovers an injured doll in the corner. With the doll, she travels through a secret passage in the room to the Rat King's smoky factory and rescues the Nutcracker.

Kindergarten Design

In the picture book section, the designer closely integrates space details with story elements, using various geometric shapes to create tunnels for children to "time-travel."

Diverse reading space designs can satisfy children's rich reading needs. Instead of a "sit and read" design, the picture book section should be a space for free exploration.

Kindergarten Design

In addition to the rich colors and spatial forms, the designer has also planned a playful reading and toy area that connects the indoor and corridor areas, making the reading experience more vivid and fun, satisfying children's inherent desire for exploration and curiosity.

The activity room continues the theme's color scheme and the use of arch-shaped elements. The design is simple and practical, with clearly defined activity areas. Circular pendant lights and playful seating make the space cozy and charming.

The activity room is also the dollhouse from the story, where Mary and the Nutcracker, having just escaped danger, discuss strategies to confront the Mouse King's army in the warm and bright lighting.

The Smoky Factory

# Adventure Space of Infinite Imagination

Kindergarten Design

With the power of trust and love from Mary, the Nutcracker transforms back into a prince. His appearance instills a belief of resistance in the humans within the smoky factory, and they pick up weapons, ultimately reclaiming the kingdom that belongs to all.

The arts and crafts room serves as the setting for the smoky factory scene, with its modern gray aesthetics and varying arch-shaped doorways echoing the story scene. Cracked eggs and colorful butterflies symbolize the vibrant force of life.

Great fairy tales often possess poetic imagery and language, conveying profound thoughts and emotions, offering children the enjoyment of beauty and nurturing their sensibilities in the process of perceiving and creating beauty.

When space design is centered around a fairy tale theme, it becomes a bridge for children to connect with the world of fairy tales, helping them gain richer sensory and emotional experiences.
