Taihe Beijing Regional Daxing Kindergarten

People living in Beijing, accustomed to the towering skyscrapers and the hustle and bustle of neon lights, often experience societal pressures from all directions. This makes them long for a return to a natural and pastoral way of life.
 

The designer says:

"I hope that when children come to the kindergarten from their homes, they can temporarily escape the fast-paced urban life and return to the essence of childhood... We aim to create an ecologically natural 'family' environment for children, embodying the 'parental heart' education."
 

Courtyard Sentiment:

Infused with the humanistic sentiments of old Beijing's quadrangle courtyards, the design blends indoor and outdoor spaces, bringing the outdoor natural scenery indoors. Breathing the fresh air from plants, experiencing the warmth of a bird's nest, children immerse themselves in the embrace of nature and play to their hearts' content.

Aloft Loft:

One side of the hall features a striking pink loft suspended in mid-air. Looking inward reveals an artificial indoor landscape, while looking outward unveils the natural ecological landscape. This unique perspective can stimulate children's thinking.

Sunlight Infiltration:

Both sides of the activity room use floor-to-ceiling transparent glass windows instead of heavy concrete walls, ensuring a bright and airy interior. This design not only allows teachers to monitor the children's activities but also sparks the children's boundless imagination.

Habit Cultivation:

The overall space of the craft room is primarily practical, with elements of jute ropes and wood grain creating an atmosphere for handicraft creation. The surrounding cabinets are designed at a child's height, making it convenient for children to access and store their materials, teaching them to organize on their own and develop their storage capabilities and self-awareness.

Cultural Inheritance:

The traditional book tutoring scene is presented with an antique charm, expressing the values of "benevolence, righteousness, loyalty, forgiveness, filial piety, fraternal love, propriety, and trust." Under the influence of traditional culture, children can deepen their interest in Chinese studies, cultivate their humanistic qualities, and develop good life and study habits.

Learning to Share:

The layout of the baking room resembles a cozy family kitchen, where children gather to learn about food and baking. It also teaches them the values of cooperation and sharing.
